My 2.66 Ghz P4 has lasted me three years, and it sucked when I bought this Dell (POS's), and it still fine now (though I do hate it), so a top of the line CPU will last for at least four years and still be great.
I may be getting a system with the FX-55, and some other goodies, but budget depending (spending 7.5-8 grand now) we shall see...
