What is the difference between Newcastle and Venice cores in an AMD processor and which one is better. Seems like the Venice is about $25 more than newcastle but other than that I have no idea what is what.

Venince is better; buy the Venince.

Newcastle is old, skt 754 and 939, don't buy.

Winchester is better than newcastle. skt 939

Venince is best: skt 939

If you're into OCing, Venince is a good core to OC

venice has SSE3 instructions, which others don't have

the new san diego's have bigger caches (lol..cache), but don't expect a big performance gain over the 512mb L2 cache cpu's

IMO you should go with the retail venice 3200+ ($210)

in simple words, 90nm = runs cooler then 130nm

Cache doesn't mean that much; It helps a little but not a lot. Don't shell out a lot just for a bigger cache size.

The 90/130 nm nubius was talking about is related to how they are constructed. the smaller the nm is better.

SSE3 helps w/ advanced programs...Nubius explains below.

it's SSE3 emeral, not SEE3

but they are just another set of instructions dude, programs that use it will be able to run better because the CPU knows how to operate it efficiently.

Drivers are instructions for your video cards, this is the same thing.
