AMD Comes Out Swinging With 2 Quad Chips and a Triple-Core

I've been looking at the 9850 BE's, and it seems a lot of people are getting 3GHZ on air.

Also, there's something interesting about Phenom's in 3dmark06
on XS, a user called Tony benched a Phenom 9850 at 3.4GHZ against a Q6600 at 3.4GHZ
both systems using an 8800 Ultra at stock, and both under Vista, and very similar RAM.

the Q6600 got a higher CPU score, however the Phenom system got a higher overall 3dmark score.
It seems the Phenom's are designed to work well with the video card.

a few of my reviewer buddies have been telling me Phenom gives games a smoothness that is not there on Intel rigs...Yes the frame rates may be a little lower but when on full load the Phenom's just pure along allowing the game to flow.

now im not going to debate what i just said here, i don't play enough PC games to notice but I talk to quite a few tier 1 reviewers who do test and many say the same thing.

anyway...the scores are close i know, it just shows what an apples to apples comparison will kick up

Who would want to buy a chip that is named after a boat that is only well known for it's epic FAIL?
