Default AMD/ATI graphics card 5870 vs a 5870x2?

I've been hearing the price on the 5870x2 will be $500, cheaper if doing 2 single core 5870 xfire which cost about $380 ea. I can only find the single version 5870 and for pre order. My question is how much more power will a 5870x2 need , when can I at least can pre-order it and will the performance of the 5870x2 be on par with 2x 5870 in xfire? thanks!

lol, Trotter said it right. But even still, it would be better in the long run to grab a single 5870 as it runs everything out there just fine (unless, idk, you run at 2560x1600 or something) and by the time it would be useful to have more horsepower you can get a 5870 cheaper than their launch prices. That's just the way I see it, though I have no problem with dual GPU cards. I run a 4870 X2 myself and I'm happy with it.
