I am not big reading the articles from amd and intel and such. I was wondering with what you guys have read, how does amd stand up against intel in the future. When i built my computer, i got am2 because everyone was saying "best for upgrade".

But now that c2d has come out, does anyone know how the new releases of am2 will compare to the c2d? Or when they will come out?

K8L in AM3?

AMD's making a new socket for K8L. However, the AM3/K8L CPU's will actually fit and work in socket AM2 motherboards. there's just one less pin.

along with AM3, it looks like AMD is going to use DDR3. AM2 is for DDR2.
so that will mean the AM3 CPU's will have a memory controller for DDR2 and DDR3

So will the new amds that fit into the am2 socket motherboard match up to the c2d that are out now? Since they have more time to develope and probable copy intels structure or whatever?

they won't copy Intel's structure. But they are innovating like there's no tomorrow.

how they perform is yet to be seen. But from what I've read, I do think they will be a good match at least.

Yeah, but you'll need to have an AM3 motherboard to use the new memory controller for DDR3.
