I've always been an Intel guy but I think I've been worn down by everyone telling me that AMD is better for gaming. The only problem with this is I know nothing of AMD. What would be the best mobo/cpu combo for gaming and the advantage of it? I'm looking for something with PCI-Express and dual channel DDR memory.

Found one at Zipzoomfly.com...not in stock but its a start.

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=240148

Here is the system I've been planning:

CASE: Thermaltake Blue Highest Xaser III Super Tower Chassis $139.49
PSU: Thermaltake W0014 Silent Purepower 480W with Black housing - Xaser Edition ATX 2-Fan Power Supply $55.00
VID CARD: eVGA e-GeForce 6800 GT PCI Express 256MB DDR3 Video Card w/TV-Out & Dual DVI $499.99
HDD: Western Digital Raptor WD360GD 36.7GB Serial ATA 10,000RPM Hard Drive w/8MB Buffer $115.00
SECONDARY HDD: Maxtor Diamond Max 10 160 GB (already purchased)
MEDIA: Sony DRU710A Internal Double Layer DVD+RW Drive $118.00
RAM: Corsair TWINX1024-3200 1GB Kit DDR400 XMS3200 Dual-Channel Memory w/Black Heat Spreader $212.00

The mobos/cpus I am looking at are as follows:

INTEL OPTION:
MOTHERBOARD: Asus P5AD2 Deluxe $219.00
CPU: Intel Pentium® 4 550 Processor Prescott 3.4GHz $280.00

AMD OPTION:
MOTHERBOARD: Abit AX8 Via K8T890 AMD Athlon 64(FX) $145.00
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ $281.00

The INTEL OPTION would total: $1638.48
The AMD OPTION would total: $1565.48
Just putting my thoughts down on paper (screen). What are your thoughts?

AMD JUST released the PCI-E boards, so don't expect them in stock for abit:rolleyes: :p

Umm, well I for one would maybe not get a PCI-E GFX card:confused: I mean you could probably get a Ultra for the price of that GT PCI-E:confused:

I honestly don't really like P4's if they aren't 3.6ghz or faster:rolleyes: I mean, the 3.4 is a good CPU, but it will get creamed by EVERYTHING, the EE's and AMD's:confused: Atleast the 560 3.6ghz will go head to head with the EE's and some AMD's, the Prescott really shows its pace at 3.6 I think:confused: Unfortunatly your looking at $440 for the 560 :(

I think the AMD solution would be the cheapest and fastest for you right now:confused:
