I don't know about laptops but I went to voodoo's site and customized a computer that would cost $6,400 without a monitor, keyboard, or mouse. I went to and made a list of parts that equalled or bettered the specs, looked just as cool, and were of excellent quality for $3000. That included a 17in LCD monitor, Microsoft keyboard, Logitech Z-680 speakers and a Microsoft Intelimouse. Laptops may be a different story and I know it's not possible to just order laptop parts and put them together but Alienware may be a better deal.
