This may sound stupid but here goes. I have a P4S-LA asus mother board (not the same as P4S333-m!!!) and what i was wonder was if I bought an video card that has 8x agp would it run at the 8x or 4x which I think my mobo only supports...I'm a little confused on this. I just don't want to spend bookoo bucks for a video card and not to be able to use all it's capabilities.

It would run at 4X if thats the max your motherboard supports. Even if you had a motherboard that supported AGP 8X, it wouldn't be much use since games today don't need that much bandwith.

According to HP, the motherboard supports AGP 4x, thus an AGP 8x card will run in 4x mode.

Only real significant benefit to AGP 8x is if you use professional applications regularly (e.g. 3DS MAX, Maya, etc.).

Thanks guys, now I won't go out an spend an arm and a leg on something that would be just a waste of money.

Oh ya, I have a question for myself here! :)

Is there really much of a difference between AGP 4x or 8x if you are a PC Gamer ??????????????

Just wondering. :p
