Yep. A PCI card won't fit in a PCI-E slot. There are 2 types of PCI-E slots. PCI-E x16 (for gfx card) and PCI-E x1 (for other cards)
There's also something called PCI-X. PCI-X is backwards compatible with ordinary PCI cards, PCI-X is way faster than PCI though. You can use any PCI card in a PCI-X slot.
