Default AGP 8x vs. PCI-E x16

is there any known performance difference between a 6600GT agp and the PCIE version other than the extra 100MHZ of mem clock?

nope. I dont know about the latest gen cards from Nvidia and ATI but the 6xxx series didn't even use any of the extra bandwidth provided by PCI-E. Even the current latest cards don't come anywhere close to taking full advantage of the 16x

no card uses the full AGP bandwith yet, however PCI-E 16X is about 8 times as fast as AGP 8X
AGP 8X = 2.2GB/s
PCI-E 1X = 1GB/S
PCI-E 4X = 4GB/S
PCI-E 16X = 16GB/S
