wow- i just typed this up and accidently hit back, here we go again...

my bday is coming up and i want to get a 200 dollar rang gfx card and a couple of pc games. But i dont know if i should ask for the 9800 pro or the 6600 gt. The 6600 is only 128 bit and the 9800 pro is 256-bit. Although, the clock speed or w/e is greater on the 6600 than the 9800 pro. So will the lack of being a 256-bit gfx card make it worse than the 9800 pro? I looked at some benchmarks on a site i found via google, and it showed that the 6600 beat the 9800 pro in pretty much every aspect.
So do i want the AGP 6600 gt or the 9800 pro?
and don't say 'pinch your pennies' and go with a 6800 because that won't happen
also here are my computer specs

2.6 ghz p4
512 mb rdram
win xp
gforce 4 mx420 (poo)

It depends on what games you will be playing. If you are a Doom 3 buff, then I would suggest the 6600GT, because that card competes with even the X800 pro in that game. However, if you are a HL2 buff, I might suggest getting an X700 Pro. Lemme tell ya, HL2 owns Doom 3. The 9800 Pro is a good card, but its starting to become yesterday's news.

i'm more of a hl2 and even more of a cs: source player. But i thought i read somewhere that the x700 pro isn't coming out in agp. I keep leaning toward the 6600, but its that 128/256 bit thing that holds me back.

i would go for the better performance card plus future DX support/Pixel Shrader support
