Question Adding an optical drive

Hey guys. First of all I have no desire in burning DVDs. That being said,

1) Is it better to get one separate drive for CD/CDRW and another separate one for DVD Rom (2 drives)
2) Get a combined drive that can do CDRW/DVD Rom (1 drive)

Obviously 2) is cheaper. But is there a penalty is getting a drive that has both CD/DVD capabilities integrated?.. Performance wise or reliability wise..

i have a combo drive, got it for xmas, my parents picked it up pretty cheap, it does everything fast. 16DVD burn/read, 48CD burn/read, only thing, the DL is only 2.4x. I don't see anything other option than to get a good combo drive, these days they are so cheap and fast, it's worth it.
