Really? I thought the six cores were coming out mid 2010. I didnt even know they were planning 8-12 cores in the near future.

Re: 8-12 cores

Six cores are still speculation as far as I've heard. But 8 cores have been confirmed by Intel. Anand and The Inquirer claim Intel says they want them out by 2010. I would add a 2-4 months to that as usually they're late.

read this article about having more cores not always being better:

Re: 8-12 cores

There is no more speculation, intel confirmed through its road map that 6 core westmere will be appearing. So no 8-12 cores until Sandy Bridge, and actually no 4 core 32 nm products that aren't xeons until Sandy Bridge as well.

Re: 8-12 cores

Yeah there is no rush for more cores. So few applications and games actually make use of multiple threads that it doesn't really improve performance.

no, i have no idea why your getting worse performance,

my 6400be and 7750be can not touch my 940 in performance.
