7800's prices to drop???

i only hope the prices of the 6600gt and maybe the 6800gt go down.

I've read somewhere, that the 7800 GTX was released to make ATI think this was the bar to beat. and that when the R520 gets released, Nvidia will come out with a better card and pull the carpet from under ATI

Even if that is true, beedubya posted something about an R580 coming out a little bit after the R520. nvidia will have 2 contend with that

Without SM3, future games WILL NOT run in DX9 mode, and will default to DX8.1 or DX8, so basically, it will suck.

SM3 is a DirectX 9c instruction, many people seem to just ignore the fact that DirectX9 has earlier support (aka DX9b) which is not dependent on newer shading instructions.
