I was going to build a gaming comp for about 1000 bucks or less, with a amd 64 card and able to play the best of games for a couple of years, and was wondering if the 6800 gt is worth the extra money, or just get the 6600gt. also a few suggestions on a build would be appreciated.

I have a 6600gt, and it is awesome. I play Half-Life 2 on 1024X768 and 8xAA 8xAF and it flows beautifully. If you really want to play on the very max settings though, you might want a 6800gt, but at this point it would probably just be smarter to wait for the nex-gen ATI and Nvidia cards to be released then buy either a 6800gt or a 6800 ultra because they'll be much cheaper.

I would wait and get a 6800 GT when the prices drop cuz of the next gen cards like freeman said. the extra pipes will make a big difference on future games.

Or just get an R520 when it comes out :p

The 6600GT maxes out at 4X AA, when you go above that it sets it to nothing.

Neither the 6600GT nor 6800GT will play all the best games on full for a few years.

Your best bet is probolly to get a 6800GT or wait for the next generation cards

wait for the next gen cards because then the prices on the current cards will drop and you could probably pick up a 512mb 6800 ultra for as much as a 6800gt is now.
