6600gt and AMC

I am thinking of purchasing this video card. I heard that 6600gt's are known for running warm. So I am considering this after market cooling for the video card.

Is this a good idea?

What AMC do you recomend?

I would recommend this 6600GT instead. It is ten dollars cheaper and you can upgrade to a 6800GT within 90 days if you wish.

Regarding the AMC, that is a very good choice. If you could that with some Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste, your GPU will be running very cool. However, I wouldn't recommend getting the AMC unless you're planning to overclock. The stock heatsink will work fine at stock speeds which makes the AMC a waste of money.

MSI should be a good card to, but like he said the step up program is always a plus.

BTW- hope you know that I believe that that nv silencer is only for the PCI-E version

The eVGA is the best except for one small little thing, 2.0NS memory compared to 1.6 on most AGP GT's, which results in 100mhz less speed.

Alright aside from any information to deter my 6600gt purchase, I am going to order it from newegg, without the cooler. The slot fan I have below it should help to remove the heat.

When I saw AMC I immediately thought American Motors. My dad has a whole bunch of their cars and I drive a 1982 AMC Concord DL.

Really think about your airflow, as a fan blowing on the card can cause hotspots

Its a slot fan that takes tha air from inside the case and exausts it out through an empty pci slot.
