There is overclocking capabilities with both but dont expect a big increase from the CPU.

Heres my shot at it...

K8N Neo2 Platinum - $135
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...130-468&depa=1

AMD Athlon 3500+ - $260
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-460&depa=1

Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series 512x2 - $198
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...145-450&depa=1

Total - $593

Expect to be blown away. The 939 socket makes way for future upgrades. And by looking at the reviews the 3500+ and Corsair XMS should overclock really well. Pair this with your nice 6800gt and you'll be soaring through Doom 3 and HL2 at high settings with ease.

As far as I know, you should be able to overclock the 3500+ up to around 2.6Ghz pretty successfully, and you can probably get it even higher with the right cooling.
