600ish to spend

i have roughly 600 dollars to spend on new Processor, MB, & ram i was thinking AMD 3400+ or 3500+ and then help from there on to stay under 600 and have a fast gaming system. suggestions please?

thanks a lot any other suggestions, i plan on overclocking the processor so is that an ok processor to overclock and an ok board to do so to?
 
There is overclocking capabilities with both but dont expect a big increase from the CPU.

Expect to be blown away. The 939 socket makes way for future upgrades. And by looking at the reviews the 3500+ and Corsair XMS should overclock really well. Pair this with your nice 6800gt and you'll be soaring through Doom 3 and HL2 at high settings with ease.

I completely agree, money well spent there;)
 
As far as I know, you should be able to overclock the 3500+ up to around 2.6Ghz pretty successfully, and you can probably get it even higher with the right cooling.
