Is 56k forever ?

I live to far away from the city to get dsl or cable. Does anyone know if analog will ever have a max speed over 56k ? A 112k modem would really be great?

ASDL is about that speed, but it's probably not available, either. Satellite interent is a possibility, but the prices I have found thus far are prohibitive (to put it mildly).

My wife and I may be buying a new place, and some of the ones we've looked at are way out in the boonies. I may soon be in your shoes, so move over.

Satelite does typically have good bandwidth, so its good for downloading and the internet. But keep in mind the latency sucks so no good for gaming.
