What's the difference between these two processors?

AMD Athlon 64 4000+
L1 Cache: 64KB+64KB
Multimedia Instruction: MMX, SSE, SSE2, 3DNOW! Professional
Operating Frequency: 2.4GHz
Process: 0.13 µm
Series: Athlon 64

AMD Athlon 64 FX-53
L1 Cache: 64KB+64KB
Multimedia Instruction: MMX, SSE, SSE2, 3DNOW! Professional
Operating Frequency: 2.4GHz
Process: 0.13 µm
Series: Athlon 64

Information obtained from Newegg

No the fx series are 939. Doesn't one the fx have unlocked multiplers or something? Or is it both? I'll do some research.

You can get FX-53 in SKT 940 as well I belive and 939 for sure.

The main difference is unlocked multiplier on theFX

What I have found so far is that the fx-53 comes in both 940 and 939.

AMD Athlon 64 FX-53
128 bit registered ...Up to 12.8 GB/sec (6.4 GB/sec HyperTransport bandwidth plus 6.4 GB/sec memory bandwidth)

AMD Athlon 64
128 bit Unbuffered ...Up to 14.4 GB/sec (8 GB/sec HyperTransport bandwidth plus 6.4 GB/sec memory bandwidth)

IMO, the 4000 is a much better buy.

EDIT: as you can see here: http://www20.tomshardware.com/cpu/20041221/cpu_charts-15.html
The 4000 and the fx53 preform pretty much the same.
Save yourself some money and get the 3800+. Look here http://techist.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49613
