Arrow 256 or 512 better?

guys,i already have 256 ddr,planning to go for a ram upgrade.should i go in for 512 or 256?
or get a simple 128..
well,i play games like farcry and run 3dsmax..
what do u people suggest..i dont want to unnecesarily spend even though i have the resources..

P4 2.4 512 L2
256 ddr pc3200
GF4 mx440 128
40 gig 7200 uata5
VIA P4m266A

any suggestions are always welcome..
i m in a fix..

512 bare min. If you have the money go for 1G of performance memory like HyperX or something
