Hi,
I was wondering which processor is better in general: 2.2 GHz Celeron -D or Sempron 2200+. I am building a low end secondary PC and I am wondering which to buy; they are about the same price.

Thank you.

A celeron D 2.26ghz cost $65
A sempron 2600+ skt 754 $72

I will argure that the sempron is definally worth the extra $7

With a sempron 2600+ you can easily have a motherboard/cpu combination of under $150

A sempron 2600+ skt 754 $72

ASUS K8N Socket 754 NVIDIA nForce3 250 $69

Total for motherboard and cpu: $141

This would make a great budget/secound computer.

Everything else would be the same if you went AMD or Intel

Celeron D because the 2200+ sempron is socket A. Celeron D matches k8 semprons pretty well.
Btw, if you can spend the extra 7 bucks, get the 2600+ sempron.

yeah, get a cheap socket 754 sempron because the 2600 is definatly quicker than then 2.2, but if you decide to stick with the 2200 and the 2.2 comparison, go with the celeron D.

$7 more for the Sempron 2600? Man get that one instead, otherwise I agree that the Celeron D would be faster between the 2200/Cel 2.2

Thank you guys for your responses.
If the extra $7 is worth it, I will definetly buy the Sempron 2600+, but then I would have only 128 mb of RAM because I am on a tight budget (this computer is for my friend who wants to spend only a minimal amount of money). So I have another question now: do you think it's smarter to buy the Sempron 2600+ with 128mb of RAM, or the 2.2Ghz Celeron -D with 256mb?
Thank you.

Tell him the $7 is change that you lose down the back of the couch, yes you pick it up when you are a bit skint, but it is worth spending the extra money.

Another vote for the Celeron.
