Default ytem will not boot up

My friend built me a system which has run faultlessly for 6 months until whilst my wife was on it decided to end all programs and shut down. I tried to reboot and the fans power up keyboard lights are on then it shuts down. Sometimes it will boot and load up xp run for a minute then just shuts off.
I,ve tried the power supply. reset cmos. tried another processor. Changed ram. unplugged the hard drive to see if it will at least goto to bios but it just shuts off. We even changed on off button incase that was sticking causing it to boot then shut down. Only things we havent changed is graphics card or mother board. I'm running a pentium D on an asus P5LD2SE mother board ,I,m not overclocking the processor and when it did boot temps ran about 50 degrees at about 17% processor use. Need help or ill have just about rebuilt the whole system.

Default Re: ytem will not boot up

One thing I did not see if you tried was to try a different power supply. Have you done this?
