i have been trying to transfer a vcr tape to dvd. my problem is, as soon as the tape starts to record to hard drive, (about 45 secs) my monitor and computer freeze up. i can still hear audio but i have to restart the computer. i am running AMD xp1800 with 256 meg ram, 128mb videocard, 60gig HD. please help. thank you.

Have you ever let it just go ?

If your audio is still active, your machine isn't frozen.
It could be that your system isn't really up to the challenge of this task.

i let it go before and still nothing. i have been told i need atleast an 2.0 gig processor, but the leadtek site says thats not the case. i think mine runs at 1.5ghz

From what it sounds like, your machine doesn't really stand up to this task... You might want to up your ram and see what happens.

It could also be your hard drive. For some programs to convert analog video to digital video (or record from your vcr to your computer), it has to write to your hard drive at a pretty fast speed.

I know I had an issue with this when I was using a slower RPM hard drive, but I went out and got a faster hard drive and it worked. Just a suggestion though, don't take it as gold.
