Wierd Problem!!! cant press CTRL-A (to select all) and CTRL-I (to italicise)

I am facing a weird problem on my laptop...and cant quite find the sollution for it...

I can press ctrl b for bold ctrl u for underline...but not the others..!

yes...theyre working fine....never faced that kind of problem before!

just yesterday night...I pressed CTRL-A on my laptop and it did select all...and Ithought that the problem was solve...but this morning...I was pressing ctrl A and didnt work...(thats what reminded me of the problem...)
