today i went and got this new game

MEDIEVAL II/TOTAL WAR

installed it:
went to tuturial
and the computer shut down and restarted...
upon restart it gave me a message of
3rd Master Hard Disk: s.m.a.r.t. status bad, backup and replace

im pretty sure thats telling me to get a new Hard Drive right?

now the weird thing is that...
i tried to start sending some of my pictures over to disk so i could put this other HD in and reload it.

Well the DVD-ROM/CD-R+W
will not read a blank CD
when i insert the CD and go to "MY COMPUTER" then db click the d: drive to open the CD it says
d: not accessible

DVD'S/GAMES/MUSIC ALL WORK BUT I CANT GET THE BLANK ONE TO WORK.

RUNNING WIN XP SP2 .

Check the copy protection on this game . If it's starforce it's known for massing up your drives. Mainly cd roms and dvd roms.

unfortunitly im not really sure exactly what you just told me...
could you explane how to check the copy protection and what would i do with it?

and what do i need to do in the future to make sure this doesnt happen again.
what is PIO and uDMA settings
how do i reset them to what they were at
which drives should i download.
thx
