weird monitor problem

hey guys, whats up?....okay, so i have this weird monitor problem....i've got an IBM G76 17" CRT monitor...which is really great!...the only problem is, that it wont stretch out virtically...it will horizontally....so there is about an inch on both the top and the bottom of the screen...which gets annoying..i've googled the problem, but to no avail. is there a way to reset a monitor?...btw this is on an ATI Radeon 9600 pro..which works with every monitor...and it's using the standard 15pin vga plug...if u have any idea what could cause this...the help would be most appreciated thanks
