Weird "mark as normal" issue- RAID 1

Okay I have some experience with RAID 1 considering all the computers I've built for my family have been RAID 1 but I have this issue with my 2 RAID 1 arrays that I've been curious about for a while. Every now and then I'll check the IMSM to find that one of my RAID 1 array's is degraded due to a failed hard drive. But when I right click on the "failed hard drive" and choose Mark as Normal the IMSM rebuilds the array and the computer runs just fine after that. 3 weeks or a little longer later, the same thing will occur and after marking the failed hard drive as normal again it rebuilds and the computer is fine.

Any reason on why it does this?

Is it always the same disk in the array that fails? If so, then I would replace that disk as it appears to be failing for real. You should at least run diagnostics on the disks.

No it will go back and forth between one array and the other. How would I run diagnostics on my hard drives?

You would have to break the array and run chkdsk /r or go to the drive maker's site and download their diagnostics.
