Weird Clicking Noise

What does it mean if you hear random clicking noises from your motherboard/CPU? I have a Pentium 4 right now, and it seems to be making somewhat loud clicking noises when it's processing a slightly larger than normal applications. Should I be doing something?

it would not be the cpu making the noise. it would either be a fan which needs to be replaced or a failing hdd.

Open up the case and see if you can isolate the noise to a particular component.
I expect its your HDD, if so you need to back up your data now and get a new HDD. Equallty if its a fan you need to get it replaced asap.

Make sure a wire didn't fall into the fan.

It is probably the HDD. A fan would spin too fast to "click".

I've actually fixed a computer that "clicked" and it was the 4 pin CPU cable in the fan.
