Weird Boot Up Problem

Hello all, I have a strange boot up problem. After the bios goes through, I get a black screen hang up for about 2-5 minutes then the window xp symbol shows up to the desktop. What is causing this delay? By the way, this is on a new computer and a old monitor. Is it possible that my old monitor doesn't have good compatability on my new system? Any feedback would be appreciated.

TT soprano w/430 psu
Evga 6600GT
1gb corsair xms (512*2)
lite-on dvd burner

It's so weird, I tried using this monitor on my old computer and the boot up works perfectly fine, no hang ups. Also when my friend came over with this monitor, the boot up on my new computer worked perfectly fine. Ugh.
