I just got a new 320GB WD Caviar HD

Its SATA2 and my mobo only take SATA so i limited the speed with a jumper like WD told me. It installed fine and i installed my OS on. But it makes a frequent clicking sound and then the computer either freezes or goes really laggy. It also randomly fails to boot up. This exact same thing happened with my last HD and that eventually failed after been corrupted multiplr times. So im thinkin its not the hard drives that are faulty maybe my PSU isnt high enough wattage. Its 420W. How can I tell if this is the problem or does anyone have any ideas what else might be wrong?

It would be very useful if you could test the hard disk on another pc and see if it works. Also you could try another PSU,let's say 550W,on your pc.

Dont have any PSU's lying around but i can try hd on another pc alright. I might try striping out all the power consuming drives and PCI cards on my pc too and see if hd works then
