WD External Drive Problems

Ok, I've have this drive for a while and it has worked perfectly fine. I lent it to a friend and he claims it just stopped working. Not that I don't believe him, but I'm getting suspicious he did something to it. It still clearly runs, you can hear it spinning and the light on the back turns on as always, but Explorer won't recognize it. I've opened it in the device manager and it says it's working properly. I'm not the most knowledgeable with this stuff and I'm at a loss. I don't care if I lose everything on it, but I can't even find an option to format it without looking at it in explorer. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Open up Disk Management. Most likely it has to be initiated or it has a letter conflict. Can you see it in Disk Management?

It says it could not be initialized because of an I/O device error

I've tried it now with a different usb cable and on a different pc just to make sure and still no luck.
