Visioneer9020 Scanner-wont connect
Up 'till recently, scanner was working. Although, after nearly every restart of PC, needed to select "Connect" from taskbar scanner icon, wait short period , and scanner was ready. Red X would be over the icon.....which is problem now, except that it will not resolve anymore.
Followed Visioneers lengthy uninstall / reinstall procedures, which involved 2 small applets that ensured cleanup of old files before reinstalling. This did not fix the problem.
The maker acknowledges that installation may freeze at near completion.....which it always does! In the past, I would just cancel, reboot, and scanner would work....as they say it would.
But not now.
Install process stalls at 98%. Heres the crazy part ; during the freeze-up, scanner icon would appear on taskbar - WITHOUT the red X , as if indicating connection was made, and in fact I was able to pull up the scanning operations screen!!!
But, upon forcing an end to the frozen installation, with or without a reboot.....the X appears, and "unable to connect to scanner" is result again.
