So I just did a reformat, it was time. I installed the K-Lite Kodec Pack from free-codecs (which Ive done many times in the past).

Anytime I try to watch any form of video in any player; mpeg, avi, quicktime etc....my computer seems to act up.

1) It slows to a crawl, and basically locks up.

2) If I try to close whatever video player im using, my screen will start to flicker over and over and over.

I end up having to hit the reset button and reboot. I'd hate to reformat again. It seems to have started after I downloaded the new Nvidia drivers, but I cant be sure.

Anyone seen something like this?

Ever since you reformatted your computer, did you re-install and update all the drivers for you video card, sound card, and any other device? When you re-install Windows, it doesn't install them automatically. So Windows will use intergrated video to display until you install the drivers for the video card. That will cause major slow down.

make sure all drivers are updated and you have the latest chipset. also what software do you have on there right now ?

all drivers are updated.

As for software...I have very little installed at the moment.

Winxp.
BF2.
Nero.

thats pretty much it.
