Default Video Card Question

I was wondering if your video card overheated would that cause the computer to shut down?
Also could the overheating of the video card be caused by a PCI card covering the fan of the video card?

Thanks

Also to make sure ur video card is really overheated , a very common symptom is that the display freeze or get very slow , for example u cant even move ur mouse pointer
