I put together a new build. However, when I run games on it, the computer freezes and the monitor loses signal. I'm thinking its a video card issue since it only occurs during games such as Doom3, HL, and F.E.A.R. Its an XFX Nvidia Geforce 6600gt. Am I right in my assessment? Do I need a new card? My comp runs fine while idle. No freezing while I using the web or anything. Only during games. My temps are all low for my cpu. I have tried blowing a big fan into the case when taking off the side. It'll run most games like that but FEAR still freezes up. What can I do?

Thanks for any help you guys can help with.

is your motherboard a nforce3 based chipset?

if so this is a known issue with the 6xxx series that Nvidia ignores.. Only way to get around it slightly is to disable AGP fastwrites in the bios and download riviatuner and disable it As well in windows (will still stutter but not fully lock the system.. and not as often)

also if you had an ATI card before this get drivercleaner pro and remove all ati referances (may help)

I have a:
ABIT AV8 Socket 939 VIA K8T800 Pro ATX AMD Motherboard

Would that qualify as having the problem?
