Video card hardware or driver problem?

I was playing a game today and my screen just went all sorts of colors and grainy and it wouldnt show anythign else. I restarted it, and now everythign looks like it deose in the link below. Its even worse when i run an application...I dont have latest drivers because they require windows service pack 2...and i havent updated to that. So i dont know what I should do with this...

Something might be overheating, check your temperatures.

Did you do any overclocking?

Can anyone help with this? the problem is still persisting and I have had my computer off for a night...so it cant be a heating issue...
