So after my monthly cleaning, i boot my pc to find out that i have 2GB of recognized memory, after a few reboots, i got 4GB, then 6GB. Have not run memtest since the cd is at work, but other than that, what could it be?

asus P6T deluxe v2 with an i7 920, running corsair xms3 ddr3 1333 memory

The ram should be in slots 1,3 and 5 or in 2,4 and 6. They may not be making a good connection anymore, sometimes I think I can just breath wrong and things won't work. Pull the memory out and re-install them. Make sure each stick is lined up properly and firmly push them in. You should hear it click, don't baby them in.

oh i know that, my fault, they are in 1, 3 and 5 currently, this all makes me think that it might be the memory controller or bad bios, not sure yet, its running now with 6GB, so ill just leave it on haha

The memory controller is built into the cpu, I doubt that's the problem.

Some heatsinks will actually bend the mobo when there tighten down all the way and because the memory slots are so close they can be affected. I haven't had this problem but I have heard of it happening.
