USB ports on Acer Aspire laptops destroyed, need help please.

Hi, my name is Mike and im 15 years old. Im really good with computers and things that deal with tech... but I have encountered a problem and I think I could use others help. I have an Acer Aspire Laptop, and I realize that Acer products have TONS of problems. My latest problem with it is that my USB 2.0 ports have been destroyed. I am not sure of what the cause is. Ive had my laptop for about 2-3 years now so its probably just normal wear and tear from plugging stuff in and out. Im considering buying a external USB drive that will plug into my Express Card slot. Ive been searching online and found some good ones for great prices. I just want to be sure in what im buying first. I have never really had problems with my USB ports before so im kind of new to it. If you could kindly help me find the right one that would be great! Could you post more information, such as links to the cards your looking at, the model of your laptop and so on?
