USB External HDD

I hope someone can help me out.... I recently bought a USB HDD enclosure for my PC. I installed a seagate 80gb hdd in (set as master).

When i plug it into the computer it detects it, installs it and says everything is working. But when i look in my computer theres no new disk drives. Ive checked in device manager and theres no problems.

Ive tried everything, checked the bios, tried it in all different usb ports, tried different usb products (512mb stick) and they all work ok! Any tips??? Im just about ready to throw it under a truck!

if nothing works i'd recommend trying to get a external enclosure with firewire or if possible just a firewire cord for your current one.

other than that is your computer usb 2.0 or 1.1 ? and the enclosure aswell ?

we're assuming you have formated that drive... you have formatted the drive havent you?

Either case check out the disk management tool (type diskmgmt.msc from the run box)
