USB devices not recognized

I reformatted my computer last week, and since than have not been able to use any USB devices. I got all windows updates and updated bios, chipsets, and drivers. neither my flash usb stick, digital camera, or ipod is recognized when I plug it in, although my ipod still charges itself through the usb cable. anyone know what is going on?

Do you have any error icons in your Device Manager ?
Have you updated the driver for your USB controller?

yes all drivers are updated. and no error icons pop up. nothing happens when i plug something in, like the computer doesn't recognize they are plugged in. I tried both the ports directly on the back of the mobo and the additional ones in the front, all with the same result.
