you dont need to install usb 2.0 drivers on newer computers running xp, uninstall the usb 2.0 drivers (hosted from your mobo) and it should be working as long as you are running windows xp sp2 or higher

thats right, there normally aren't drivers provided from the mother board manufacturer (i've never seen any)...you need Windows XP SP1 or high to take use of them...i see this every time i install on a usb 2.0 supporting machine...just install sp2 or sp1 and it should work fine

i think the simplest (possibly) is looking up the mobo model on gigabyte's site, if there is such a thing for it....and see what the specs say

i just did this as I finished the above
Live Search: Gigabyte DS3 spec

goes to here:
GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Specification - GA-965P-DS3 (rev. 3.3)

not sure what "rev" yours is...but from all appearances...

internal - 3 USB 2.0/1.1 connectors for additional 6 ports by cables
rear - 4 USB 2.0/1.1 ports

EDIT: might just be a bios setting...maybe usb is set to legacy or 1.1 and not 2.x or disabled? just wondering
