I had a problem with my HP 775e internal floppy drive. I ordered a USB floppy drive to be used for replacement.
The questions are: Can I open up the PC and just unplug the ribbon cable from the internal floppy? Would this cause any trouble booting the PC each time? Or is there another way to delete the internal floppy drive?

Nope thats fine, unplug the power cable to it as well. On boot BIOS will detect what is there and what isn't.
