Unknown password on IBM Thinkpad

Hi, was wondering if anyone could help me. I recently bought an IBM thinkpad from a car boot sale. It was very cheap but had no charger with it. When I finally tracked down a charger and turned it on, it is asking for a password.

Needless to say I have not been able to find the person I bought it off.

Is there any way of bypassing the password?

It comes up straight away, before anything else appears!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S - I realise i was stupid!

You will have to open the laptop and look for a watch battery. Remove that for a while and hope that when you put it back in, the bios and the bios password cleared. Otherwise call IBM and see if they can help you.
