Turtle Beach not working

Hey I just bought the Turtle Beach EarForce Z6A headset. It didn't come with any drivers so I assumed it was just plug and play, so I connected the USB port and the matching color ports to the onboard sound card. You can hear little frequencies from the headset so I know it can play sounds but for some reason Windows won't recognize or find it in the Control Panel. I have a Rampage Formula III ATX Motherboard. I didn't think I needed to have a sound card for the headset, but if I do will someone please tell me and direct me to a good one? Thanks!

Yeah sure I had a pair of old speakers plugged in while my TB headset was as well. And all Windows would recognize was the 2 speakers so I just unplugged its port and restarted my computer, checked the headsets ports another time and Windows finally recognized it! Not sure if that will help anyone, but it did the trick for me.
