Default trying to install vista, wont detect any hd's

i just bulid a new computer and the hd is about a year old and when i install a full version of vista it ask's me what hd to install to and i cant pick from any. it's listed in the bios as the primary master. then it says i have to load drivers for the device from either a floppy or usb flash drive.

need help please. this is my first time installing a full version vista. done plenty of upgrades.

****update**** i finally got it to recognize the hd now when i start installing vista it freezes when extracting files. grrrrrrrr. i had no problems at all when building my sisters comp and upgrading to vista. but dam this sucks. ima gonna run scan disk to see if it can find any errors
