Hello,
I'm having quite a frustrating day,
I just bought a new mobo, proc, vc, and ram from newegg(keeping my old hard drive and optical drive), and decided to re-install windows. Upon booting from the WINXP CD, asks if I want to install any third party drivers or run ASR (all the usual jazz), after this it begins loading up, upon completion loading drivers from cd, I get a blue screen telling me that I don't have any hard disks attached to my machine.
I checked the cabling and such, even my BIOS recognises my primary IDE hard drive. I am assuming it is a controller issue, my setup can run SATA, but I'm sticking with IDE for now. I cant figure out how to get windows to recognise my HD.
Here's what I was looking at:
Under my bios' IDE configuration menu it gives me these options
Configure Sata as: [Standard IDE] or [AHCI] or [Raid]
it also gives me options of IDE operation mode [enhanced] or [compatible] or [disabled]
How do I get windows to recognise me IDE hard drive? If I buy a SATA hard drive, will windows detect it stock?
HW config:
Mobo: P5AD2-E Deluxe
RAM: 2X 1gb Corsair ddr2
Proc: LGA775 3.0 ghz
VC: Sapphire X800XL 512mb
I'm sorry if I havent provided enough information, my brain is friedazzled.
