Default Transferring data from old to new HDD

So I decided to upgrade the HDD from the old IDE drive to a new SATA drive. After loading Windows to the new drive, can I transfer all my data from the old IDE drive to the new one?

I know I will have to switch the old IDE drive to slave mode first. Can I transfer everything this way; applications as well as files, or do programs and such need to be re-installed?

Default Re: Transferring data from old to new HDD

Most likely programs/applications would need to be re-installed.

But you can transfer your personal files, no problem.
