Toshiba Satellite Laptop with a intermitant display problem

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite 1135 Laptop with a intermittent display. If I use a external monitor when I main display goes out the external monitor still works. It goes out about 5-20 minuites from booting the computer and will not come back without restarting the computer. When I do restart the computer the display is fine. When it goes out it does not go black (I do not believe it is the backlight), it sometimes goes solid white and sometimes goes grey but it usable. What do you think is causing this? Thanks

It sounds like a problem with the LCD cable that takes the data to your main laptop screen.
Also, you say that the laptop screen goes off when connecetd to the external monitor, but does it go off when not connected. If not then there is a few settings in the power monitor which should sort this out....
