Thinkpad A21m NIC Unknown...WTF? HELP! lol

I have 2 IBM a21m 2628-FQU laptops with windows 2000 pro.

the IBM site has 2 drivers...one intel and one 3com. I've tried to install both repeatedly...and ive done hundreds of drive installs before. what the **** am i missing? lol.

i set the bios to defaults...then tried changing settings. i tried installing the drivers in sp2 and sp4 with roll-up. any suggestions?

you are installing drivers for the nic ? both notebooks will not accept the drivers ? or just one. ? the drivers i will assume are for windows 2000 ? if it is just one notebook that will not accept the drivers it is quite possible that the embedded nic is bad.
