I am doin a new build. It is my first time using this mobo and a ssd... long sstory short, the mobo had the hdds set to IDE when we installed windows rather than set for a ssd. how do i fix this?

Crussial 128 SSD
Amd Asus Crossfire IV Formula Mobo

i want to run it in AHCI mode

You'll need to reinstall Windows then. There's a way around it, but it involves editing some pretty core system files... and I can't remember what exactly you have to edit. Easiest way would be to just reinstall if its a new install of Windows.

To enabled AHCI after a win7 install all you need to do is install the systems AHCI drivers, and turn the mode on in the registry, restart, then set the BIOS to use that mode instead, and no, it doesn't always work.

Reinstall Windows 7 preferabley with AHCI set in the bios beforehand. Also if you don't care about your files don't just format your SSD, go on the OCZ SSD forum for example and you can read all about the best and proper way to wipe and reset your SSD to optimal performance.
